Director, Product Development (Home) - CALVIN KLEIN

The Director, Product Development – Home is responsible for supporting the design process through the effective development of new and innovative Home collection products and capsules to drive sales and gross margin and achieve OP and EBIT for the Calvin Klein Home business. The Director, Product Development – Home works closely with the VP, Design – Home and design team planning, executing and monitoring the product development lifecycle for the Calvin Klein Home business, identifying factories, mills and vendors for hard and soft home products. Our business model includes both licensing to owed & operated and products ranging from luxury to off price. The Director, Product Development – Home is responsible to build and maintain strong relationships among all internal and external business partners.


  • Responsible for the day-to-day management and product development strategy from concept to the post–launch analysis for all current and future home categories (see below) for the Calvin Klein businesses:

– Bath

– Bedding

– Tabletop

– Decorative Accessories

– Giftware

– Rugs

– Furniture

– Art

  • Develop and execute financial plans in support of seasonal product development merchandising initiatives partnering with finance & planning departments.

  • Formulate and execute time–and–action to insure development is effectively managed, tracked and budgeted.

  • Own the product development process communicating all information to internal and external partners including the review and receipt of design concepts, the delivery of design & technical packages, sample review including commentary and approval, etc.; with a focus on seasonal delivery introductions.

  • Identify and quantify potential product, category and/or vendor opportunities through in–store or online sales performance and/or trend, marketplace or competitive analyses.

  • Responsible for all vendor related cost and MOQ negotiations focusing on IMU maximization, price value relativity and marketplace competitiveness.

  • Greenlight all production managing vendor manufacturing lead times in relation to in–store and online product launch dates.

  • Travel and attend industry events (i.e. product sourcing, trade shows, showhouses, etc.) to develop new vendor relationships, identify trends and product opportunities.

  • Maintain industry awareness and knowledge through brick-and-mortar store and online retailers monitoring assortments, pricing strategy, promotional messaging, email marketing, trend stories, etc.

  • Build and maintain strong cross functional relationships among internal teams and their members as well as all third party/exclusive vendors.

  • Liaise with retail finance on licensee and third party exclusive vendor performance and analysis.


Experience: 7+ years plus product development experience.

Education: College Education / Bachelor’s Degree
