Assistant Wave Planner

Position Summary: Preview orders and decides on appropriate criteria to select groups of orders and batch into appropriate waves to meet shipment requirements and optimize facility capacity utilization.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities of the Job:

  1. Evaluates workload in total for day, and by processing department (e.g. piece sorter, pods, goh, work orders) to level overall facility and departmental capacity

  2. Receives and processes requests from Merchandise Coordinators and Customer Service to expedite, modify or cancel orders

  3. Levels workloads between Processing Areas, Special Handling, QC, Rework, etc. to ensure both daily and/or future requirements are satisfied on time

  4. Tabulates wave data to analyze waves in consideration of process improvements

  5. Examines pulls to ensure waves are built in the most efficient way possible

  6. When required, cancel customer orders and communicate with appropriate Account Support personnel to resolve order exceptions

  7. Works with other Assistant Wave Planner and Operation Supervisors to plan and manage both manpower and the physical product to ensure continuous flow of goods and to meet daily distribution requirement in an automated environment

  8. Works at a motivated pace in an continuously changing environment

  9. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness

  10. Other tasks as assigned

Internal : All McDonough associates, IT group

External : Corporate IT, Account Support, Allocations

Direct : N/A

Budgetary Responsibilities: N/A

Decision Making:

  1. Launches plan; monitor execution of plan to prevent and/or resolve bottlenecks.

Monitors task assignment duration.

  1. Creates and ensures processing or emergency picks and floor cuts as required to facilitate continuous flow. Makes in-process wave modifications as required.

Environment: Works mostly in office setting. Must closely monitor, through PKMS system, wave status to prevent bottlenecks. Heavy PC & Telephone Volume

Qualifications & Experience:

Experience: PKMS module experience required. Excellent computer knowledge and skills.

Education: HS Diploma minimum (Post - HS Education is preferred)

Skills: Effective verbal and written communication, organizational and

analytical skills
